Dope Means - Voices (Prod. Vherbal)

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania duo of Crumb and JustTraxx better known as Dope Means are unveiling their debut LP Government Funded onto the world today (6-18-2013). The group is led by MC Crumb who joined the Army and was deployed to Iraq and recently returned to the States. Crumb used his paychecks from “Operation New Dawn 11-12” to fund this LP, which focuses on corruption, the politics of war and all aspects of life and their love of their home town Pittsburgh. Though not a political group, many of their songs focus on the current political climate and the effects they've had on their lives as both soldiers and civilians. Government Funded features thirteen tracks and features guest appearances by Timbo King (Wu-Tang), Planet Asia, Reef the Lost Cauze and Ras Kass alongside production from C-Lance (JMT), Bronze Nazareth, Vherbal & Ziko. A&R’d by longtime Hip-Hop impresario M-Eighty (Wu-Tang / DPG / Undergods) fame, this LP represents the call of duty found within all mankind as delivered via raw lyricism and classic boom bap tales. As Dope Means releases there debut LP, Government Funded, they deliver the video for “Voices,” which tells the tale of Crumb’s personal experience while away from home and deployed overseas. With the first verse Crumb blames himself and his poor attitude while deployed for the destruction of a long distance relationship; wrongly accusing and negatively portraying events that were in fact not taking place. The second verse focuses on his best friend who passed away in the midst of a bitter feud. The stories contain apologies, thoughts, and feelings that may never be heard--remaining stuck in a cluttered mind; #Voices.

On 6-18-2013 Tona will be releasing his debut project, Silverspring Crescent, which is produced in its entirety by Rich Kidd. “Silverspring Crescent is actually the name of a street in the borough (Scarborough) where I am from (Toronto) so I named the LP that to show the world exactly who I am and where I come from” TONA states. “Music is a reflection of life and Rich and I have been working together for years now, so that chemistry and experiences come together on this LP.”

The group is led by MC Crumb who joined the Army and was deployed to Iraq and recently returned to the States. YC The Cynic - God Complex (Prod. Frank Drake)

The Bronx is known for originating this thing that we call hip-hop. It's only right for a kid from hip-hop's birthplace to introduce a unique flavor to the game. YC The Cynic is a rapper who has cut his teeth in New York City's open mic scene for years. Cultivating a small but fiercely loyal fan base, YC was able to raise over $5000 for a Kickstarter campaign to fund his upcoming album with producer Frank Drake, GNK. Today, he is releasing the first single off the project, a song titled "God Complex," in video form. "God Complex" catches the ear thanks to the Bronx rapper's outstanding harmonized delivery. He glides over Frank's spacey production with panache, pausing between bars for emphasis. YC uses this innovative style to paint a portrait of a narcissistic character who is the centerpiece of the song. The character is brash and very confident, declaring in the first line of the song: "I know this might sound quite unusual/But you should fear no man but me." As the song progresses, the listener learns that this braggadocio perhaps stems from insecurity ("You should watch who you're talking to/You've no idea what I'm going through"). Although the lyrics are bold and aggressive, the listener is not intimidated by the character, thanks to the mesmerizing cadence of the song. The video, directed by Oliver Eid, is ethereal. YC's face is surrounded by clouds as it fades in and out of the frame. His face is the only image that appears on the screen. Vibrant colors seem to burst out of nowhere. The visual supports the trancelike feel of the song itself while simultaneously lifting the character into his "God Complex." GNK will be dropping soon. Get familiar with YC The Cynic with the video below.

Ricky Rude - Good Mood (Feat. Glasses Malone)

South Jersey's Ricky Rude and Los Angeles' Glasses Malone are quite possibly hip-hop's 'Odd Couple.' After releasing the laidback single, "Good Mood," which samples the theme song from the classic sitcom "The Odd Couple," the New Jersey troubadour enlists YMCMB's Glasses Malone, for the song's music video. The video features Ricky sharing champagne and a hot tub with a scantily clad female, while Glasses hits the booth to spew fire. The visuals will surely leave viewers in a good mood. In April, Ricky made waves with the release of his single "Hold Me Down" featuring AR-AB. He has done little to fly below the radar since; as he was recently (http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhaWu2bOHxGaIJ0cD5) spotted in a cipher with hit-making producer Mike Zombie (Drake's "Started from the Bottom"). Ricky is currently completing his forthcoming album, "No Guts, No Glory," which is slated to include features from Scarface, AR-AB, Apollo The Great, Liz Rodriguez, and production from Cardiak and Cool & Dre.

Gensu Dean lays the perfect sonic backdrop for Asia's lyrical reflection and dollar dreaming.
