Reks & Hazardis Soundz - Garvey (Feat. Noreaga & Saigon)

Brick Records is proud to present the REKS & Hazardis Soundz collaborative album Eyes Watching God. The concept album has the duo showcasing a contrast between “good and evil” beginning with a “God Side” and finishing with a “Devil Side.” The CD artwork features a dual-image album cover showing both the 'Good' and 'Evil' sides, depending on what angle you view it from. The Massachusetts lyricist linked up with the Queens native in South Florida to complete the album during the past year, and they enlisted N.O.R.E, Saigon, Fredro Starr, Termanology, Ruste Juxx, Dutch Rebelle and others to add to their cause. The result is a highly conscious and fiercely political album. "Working with REKS on this project has been a great experience. The creative process was organic and effortless. We were in the studio together for every song on the album and it was as simple as me showing Reks a beat and him picking up the pen and writing. Nothing was ever forced. I am really proud of this body of work and I'm very excited for the world to hear it." says Haz. REKS adds, "It felt natural working with Haz. He has a great ear for music and was interested in me trying beats I am not accustomed to spitting on. It helped me diversify myself a bit". The chemistry between the two is evident throughout Eyes Watching God, which was released on CD and digitally on 7-15-14.

The Legion - For You

Longtime D.I.T.C. affiliates and Bronx legends The Legion dropped their long awaited "The Lost Tapes" album + brand new visuals for the track "For You" today! The album features production from Buckwild, Showbiz (both of D.I.T.C.), Confidence, and The Legion and is available worldwide on CD/12" EP/cassette/digital formats. Straight from The Bronx, the home of hip-hop, comes the trio, The Legion (Chucky Smash, Molecules and Cee-Low). As signees to Black Sheep's One Love imprint, they debuted in 1993 with the brilliant underground classic, "Jingle Jangle" - an ill piano sample driven track with a highly quotable finishing verse from Dres of Black Sheep. The Legion followed up with the sweet laden Roy Ayers looped up single, "Legion Groove" and their now much sought after debut album, "Theme + Echo = Krill" (1994) featuring affiliated acts like Black Sheep, Chi-Ali and Showbiz & A.G. After a hiatus for a few years, they resurfaced with the 12-inch, "Street Thing / Caught Up" (1998) on Legion Records/Fat Beats and some appearances on Dres' "Sure Shot Redemption" album. Then the Bronx trio went quiet. While Molecules handled dope production for Dres, Mos Def, Milano, Amanda Marshall and even appeared on P!nk's "Stupid Girls", Chucky Smash's been hosting radio shows in the BX. The three long-time friends never stopped doing music together but it was already 2011 when the trio finally made a dope comeback on the Beneficence collabo track, “Aim, Fire, Spit.” "The Lost Tapes" ain't only a simple compilation of rare and unreleased tracks, it's rather a musical documentation of a group that has been staying in its lane creating raw, uncut, and uncompromising Bronx flavor for more than two decades now. So this 20-track strong album includes the rare 12" single only "Freestyle Demolition" from 1994, rare old and unavailable on CD tracks, unreleased joints and instrumentals plus 3 brand new bangers ("For You", "Stereo", "Stereo [Remix]"), produced by The Legion, Buckwild, and Confidence (of Rashad & Confidence). Take a trip down memory lane with these dope Bronx tales and street beats from The Legion and stay tuned for a brand new album plus the Molecules & Showbiz "A Bronx Tale" EP.

Romaro Franceswa - The Big Payback (Prod. BeanOne)

With over 70 studio albums to his name, James Brown truly earned his moniker as "The Hardest Working Man In Show Business." Truth be told, we all owe something to the man who provided a wealth of samples for future DJ's and producers to jump on and ultimately helped birth a genre. It's been 41 years since he dropped the now classic funk joint, "The Payback" and we're still getting down with his work, this time through the sounds of Seattle native Romaro Franceswa. As a member of The Emerald City's Yuk The World crew, he's been able to hone his craft of the independent circuit, but now he's poised to make big moves with his take on the classic. Entitled "The Big Payback," the video plays out like an overblown rap battle with Romaro taking shots at all of his competitors, both small time rookies and household names alike. Full of shots depicting nuns getting busy and Romaro lyrically assaulting his foes, it's an insight of the emcee's ability to make jokes and spit them just as quick. "The Big Payback" is featured on Romaro's recently released Black King LP. Keep an eye out for Romaro as the Federal Way native makes his way into the limelight.

Bruse Wane - Who Shot Ya "Freestyle"

Wane Enterprises CEO and New York artist Bruse Wane presents the music video for his freestyle over the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Who Shot Ya". The Day The Earth Stood Still. A native of the Bronxdale Houses Projects in the Soundview section of the Bronx, Bruse founded Wane Enterprises in 2001, hosting events featuring Styles P, Papoose, N.O.R.E, Buckshot and Remy Ma. "I'm currently in the process of compiling classic beats for my impending Earl Manigualt Of Rap mixtape," says Bruse. "The 'Who Shot Ya' beat was always one of my favs and a banger, so I hopped on it to give my fans something to zone out to." He says Earl Manigault will feature "a lot of never-heard-before songs from my early years with the stories behind them, along with narrations done by myself, and some current freestyles."

Trubz - KRAP

Louisville, Kentucky rapper Trubz presents the Payne Lindsey-directed music video for "KRAP", the new single from EP The Beginning Phazes, out now. "KRAP" is produced by Atlanta beatsmith E Smitty. Trubz has shared the stage with Gorilla Zoe, Shawty Lo, Yung Joc, and has accumulated over 250,000 Youtube views. His biggest hit was the “Murray State Anthem” in which he and his former partner collaborated to make the university’s basketball anthem which received over 146,000 views. "'When I first moved to Nashville I used to rap on the street corners of downtown Broadway and 2nd Ave. I did this for about four months. I was on the street corner every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. One night I ran into a country man telling me I didn't have what it takes to make it in the music industry and he told me I was playing the wrong genre of music for Nashville. I told him if he would listen to just one song, I could guarantee he would change his mind. Needless to say, one song later, he was putting a $20 bill in the Trubz donation bucket. It was a great learning experience, and this song explains the conversation I had that night." The Beginning Phazes is out now on iTunes.

Innocent? - Silent Murder (Feat. Sean Price & Ruste Juxx)

There's no doubt about it that Brooklyn births some of the most stone cold characters in our nation's history. From Bugsy Siegel to Biggie, Brooklynites never back down from any challenge, even it it involves making enemies in the process. But through the lyrically poised Innocent?, scrappy spitter Ruste Juxx, and raw rhymes of Sean Price, "Silent Murder" gives you an insight of the inner workings of Crooklyn. Devoid of hooks and over produced beats, it's a potent, choir sampling joint that's full of bars detailing the trio's hustle and love for their borough. "Silent Murder" is taken from T.H.E.M. Recordings forthcoming 'Killin' the Game' compilation.. stay tuned!

Abstract Artform - The Hitchhiker (Feat. Dan Frechette & D-Sisive)

Mic Handz - Don't Get Stomped (Feat. Fame of M.O.P)

With the city on his back and the crowd chanting his name, a hero must rise to the occasion. But when it's time to put your guns up, Brooklyn spitter Mic Handz understands that sometimes fists are the best means of communication. A rowdy club anthem that plays out like the real life version of Def Jam: Fight for NY, "Don't Get Stomped" is the no holds barred smack down that we desperately need, especially in a time of new age R&B and soft rappers. As Handz plays the undisputed champion and Fame drops rhymes that pick up from where the legendary Rakim left off, we're treated to shots of some of BK's finest doing their thing in an undisclosed, underground location. You may wanna hit the rewind on this one a couple times and see if you can find all the cameos. "Don't Get Stomped" will be released on the upcoming 'Killin' The Game' compilation from T.H.E.M Records. Somebody tell Apollo Creed to ring the bell and get this party started.

After leaving treatment Jonezen landed a distribution deal with Famous Records/ Fontana/ Universal. Jonezen just performed live on Janice Dickinson's talk show Janice TV, and also shot a role performing one of his songs in the upcoming movie Buddy Hutchins starring Jamie Kennedy. Regarding "Bombs Away" Jonezen says "This was one of the last songs I did for the album and I knew after hearing the beat that I wanted this track to drop first. Keeping all that in mind I told D'Meetri to think 'making a statement' and that's what I think we did with the song. Bombs away… we're going in. Get ready for the rest of the album". Regarding Beautiful Disaster, JenniferAnn VersaStyle of Detroit Rock 'N Roll recently said "...with no holding back on lessons learned, Jonezen takes his audience on a lyrical journey about the 'grind and the game'"

ERule made the cover of Rap Pages in 1994 on the strength of his Pallas Records single "Listen Up/Synopsis" (click to watch the video), and has worked with Ice-T, Mykill Miers and Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship. "The term 'Dub Fritterz' comes from a dish from Belize called a conch fritter," says Born Allah. "We got the idea because Blaq Suga is from L.A. by way of Belize. So we replaced the Conch with the Dub, which is short for the letter W (West coast)." Born Allah's most recent prior release is "F**k Your Favorite Rapper Pt. 2"

These corporations are money to me, not a car or chain." Ballads Of A Massacre is set for a late spring release.

The LP is fourteen tracks deep with Gdot & Born handling about half the duties on the mic, with the remaining tracks being handled by Edo.G, providing listeners with a nice diversity; while Confidence keeps a steady stream of that authentic Hip-Hop he is known for throughout. Confidence, a student of the game dating back to the 90’s, first got a taste of music production in the mid 90′s while learning to DJ with his brother Technic. His break didn't come until 2001 when he copped an MPC 2000xl which he still uses to this day to compose masterpieces. G. Dot & Born relay the struggle of survival in the streets with hard-hitting raw lyrics, traditional gritty street beats and a confident delivery that takes Hip-Hop back to its essence. G. Dot and Born stay true to the city of Boston that raised them and 90’s Hip Hop influences like J. Dilla, Sean P., Big Pun, Edo G., Kool G. Rap, AZ and Nas by embodying a humble braggadocio that only real life experiences teach you. Today, the group offers up a tribute song, “Living Legend,” dedicated to the one and only Pete Rock, featuring Pete’s former INI cohorts Grap Luva (Pete’s brother), Rob-O & EDO. G.

Born Sam Karimi, Ceas is a spokesman for Montreal urban site Mook-Life.com, as well as founder of his own movement, REAL LIFE. Videos have already been released for "Faceless" (click to watch), "10.5" (click to watch), "Mook Life Pt. 1" (click to watch) and "M.O.E." (click to watch). "While I was writing for this EP, money was definitely on my mind," says Ceas. "From how I was to earn it, to how much of it I needed to spend, it was looming over my thoughts heavy. I wrote All My $ from this perspective. I was hungry and I didn't know how I was supposed to eat. The verses depict that hunger from a young desperate man's view, and an older, equally hungry, man's perspective. I didn't feel like performing the verses in the video because the verses weren't necessarily about me. So I focused on the feeling instead of a literal depiction of the lyrics. I recently graduated from university, but I have no intentions of using my degree to get a job. So, with that in mind, one day I was cleaning out my garage of about ten years worth of school papers, textbooks, old bills, etc… I thought to myself, I didn't want to just toss it out, I wanted more closure. So I had the idea of burning them in a ceremonial bonfire. I'm burning the old me..I'm burning All My $." Zero Gravity is available now on Ceasrock's Bandcamp page.
